Allen Ruby

Allen RubyAllen Ruby is associate commissioner for policy and systems of the National Center for Education Research at the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education. He oversees the Policy and Systems division, which includes five education research grant programs: (1) Education Research Grants Program; (2) Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences; (3) Statistical and Research Methodology in Education; (4) Partnerships and Collaborations Focused on Problems of Practice or Policy; and (5) Low-Cost, Short-Duration Evaluation of Education Interventions, along with national education research and development centers.

Previous to taking this position in 2007, he was an associate research scientist at the Center for Social Organization of Schools, Johns Hopkins University, where his research focused on improving schools serving students placed at risk and improving science education. Dr. Ruby earned his PhD in policy analysis from the Rand Graduate School.
